Model Trivia:

 The Clipper replaced the GL trim level (base model) in the UK beginning in Spring 1987.   Because the 1988-1993 Clippers far outnumber the 1987s, it is presumed that the factory 1988+ body kit, in time, adopted the "Clipper kit" name.
